Runner. Author. Travelista. Dreamer.
I hated running. Throughout my childhood years, it was a form of punishment. I didn’t understand those “crazy runners” who could run for miles and miles. It wasn’t fun to me whatsoever.
Around three years ago, I was dealing with a stressful time in my life. Many told me to give running another try. This time, something clicked. I signed up for a 10K, slowly working up my mileage. After crossing that finish line, I knew I had truly become a runner.
Since then, I have completed multiple 5K, 10K, half marathon, 25K and marathon races. I love to run local races in my home state of Michigan, yet I also enjoy the magic of runDisney events. I adore the running community and enjoy sharing my passion for running with others, encouraging everyone on their running journey, while still working on my own.
A planner at heart, I enjoy traveling with my husband, experiencing the beauty and luxury of America first hand. While we do visit Disney destinations each year, I have a goal of visiting every state and experiencing all they have to offer. With an interest in photography, I try to find ways to capture each memory to cherish forever.
I also am co-author of a book that combines two of my passions, running and Disney! Magical Miles: The Runner’s Guide to Walt Disney World is a tour book that guides families through all aspects of a runDisney event, including registration, resorts, restaurants, the races, recovery, park touring and more. Now in its second edition, it is a great resource for beginner and veteran runDisney runners.
What will you find on Running Toward the Prize? What began as a way to hold myself accountable as I started my running journey has become so much more! Here you will find recaps of the races I have run, weekly roundups of my training, and many posts regarding all that running includes – the good and the not-so-good – with a little travel and midwest living thrown in. My goal is to share with others what my running journey teaches me, offering encouragement to all of you!
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 3:14
